When Markstrom is channeling his inner Mike Smith somebody needs to remind him that McDavid is a fast skater.

59 minutes and 55 seconds - terrific game. 5 seconds - bone-headed brain fart.

But give the Oilers credit: didn't look like their 3rd game in 4 nights.

Edit: Backlund's crazy attempt for a second shorthanded goal on the same penalty probably would have put him in the record books.
If the puck had gone in the Oilers net, that is. Which it didn't. Which meant he was completely out of position when Hyman went the other way and put scored on Markstrom.

That wasn't McDavid magic that cost the Flames the game, it was a jittery goalie making bad decisions under pressure.

He's also looking like a overage player. Took him 4+ years to figure out the W? Let's be honest here, a 20 year old having modest success in the WHL is no real surprise. He had a whopping 35 points in 56 games last year man. be real.

6th round, great find.
Watched Ciona at the young stars vs Vancouver, he looked very comfortable. Then I watched him vs the Rockets in K Town in October. Man playing amongst boys, there’s a reason Seattle is one of the best teams in the dub. That Iginla kid looks like the real deal as well.

I think Sutter might have a problem with Eric Francis’s stupid questions all the time.

That loss hurt as much as paying Darnell Nurse 9.25 million for 8 years...

Not saying it isn't something to be happy and hopeful for, but a near 20 year old, overager in the dub looking like a man amongst boys is quite normal. Calling it a home run at this point is a stretch. If Nurse goes out and has a shut down game and scores 4 points in his next game does it justify his entire contract and make him a top 5 dman in the league? Let's temper the situation for a moment. He looks good as a overager playing against 16-18 year olds. Congrats to him. Let's see how he looks playing against guys his own age or older. He is a drop of hope for you guys that he continues this positive growth, but I'd hold off on claiming he's already a "home run". In the mean time they have to hope the 6 guys they drafted before him, in that draft, turn into something for the organization too. Congrats, may have found a needle in a haystack. Also may have just found a young man on a hot streak in a kids league.

True but the common age in the WHL is 17-19 and Ciona is 19. Won’t be 20 til the new year. Not every overage player dominates, he was an important player in the playoff run last year, which Seattle fell short in. Don’t think anyone was saying he was guaranteed a roster spot, just that he looks to be another good late round pick which this scouting staff has been good at.

He's not an overage player and he's playing against plenty of other 19 year olds...and a few 20 year old overagers.

He's 20 in about 5 weeks. And is playing in his 5th year in the dub. He is very much a overager.
